The Common European Framework of Reference for languagesCECRL

Because Alliance Française in Taiwan is eager to be a learning companion and assistance for learners of the French language, it exclusively refers to Common European Frame of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) for all its teaching programs and techniques.

 

There are 6 reference levels described in CEFRL

 

The CEFRL is a document

  • That results of more than 10 years of research conducted by renowned linguists from 41 member states of the Council of Europe
  • Which levels are harmonized with the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE) whose notable members are the Alliance Française,Cambridge University, Goethe Institut, Institut Cervantes…
  • That describes all language skills, its necessary learning processes as well as all situations in which a language user will be able to use a foreign language
  • That analyzes the communicative language competence comprising Linguistic competences (lexical, grammatical, phonological, syntactical skills), Sociolinguistic competences (rules of politeness, norms governing relations between generations, sexes, classes and social groups…), Pragmatic competences (structure, coherence, thematic organization of speech)
  • Helps language learners to better understand their learning progress, situate their current level on a global scale
