Bright&Light – Kayoumin Visual Art Solo Exhibition
The first time I discovered the Negative filter I couldn’t believe I found another world hidden into our daily life. The big difference with the other filters is that Negative doesn’t change nothing, it only reverts the colors and the brightness. It gives me a way to see another side to all people, things and sceneries around me, I often joke saying that this is “the other world”. The meaning of NTN is that with the color and the brightness reversed we can see beautiful things that are usually ugly; everything is about angle and timing. Sometime luck brings me a great scene and sometimes I have to make it happen. Our brain is not used to this effect so people often mistake my pieces to be paintings or drawings and that is why I decided to treat them all as Unique Pieces and print them on canvas so they all have their own identity.

Kayoumin was born in an artistic environment with a mother who can do everything with her hands, including painting and drawing, although he inherited his mother artistic temper and emotions, it’s only 40 years later that he will find his own artistic world and direction. At the age of 15 he had the chance to get into the broadcasting world, becoming one of the youngest radio hosts in France. After graduating from Paris Broadcasting school, his attraction for recently discovered Chinese Kungfu got so strong that he decided to forget radio and go find his destiny in new opened China, we are in 1993. Rapidly he found that modern China was not as he expected full of Kungfu masters willing to teach him and he was lucky to have a chance to be part of the China radio booming years. From producer at the beginning he even got on the front lines of many Chinese medias, especially in the early 00s in Guangzhou where he hosted shows in radios and TVs, regularly wrote columns and was one of the ambassador for Guangzhou daily, he also produced and performed a singing record combining French and Chinese chansons.
Just before he arrived in Taiwan he discovered in 2007 a photographic effect called “Negative” that he studied the specificities for many years as a hobby, until he opened Cellier Wine Gallery in 2015. The gallery provided him with the perfect platform to display a concept he was beginning to master for what he gave the name “Not Totally Negative”, taking people into the exploration of our world in its Negative face.
Kayoumin is currently in Taipei dividing his time between his Negative photography work and his Wine Gallery activities, his work got very positive feedbacks from people in the Taiwan art circle as well as all his friends, clients and collectors who acquired few of his Negative art pieces.
